Michael “Mickey” Smith is a London-based creative arts entrepreneur, cultural producer, promoter, writer and DJ, also widely known by his artistic name, Jazzheadchronic.

He is a co-founder of the Chronic Love Foundation—CLF, established in Peckham, South London, in 2003 to create ambitious arts, cultural and humanitarian projects with positive social impact. Since 2005, he has led the organisation alongside his partner, Saija Kamarainen.

Mickey Smith has played an important role in transforming neglected and underused buildings into thriving cultural spaces. Projects founded and developed under his leadership include the CLF Art Café at the Bussey Building, the CLF Theatre, Rye Wax, the CLF Art Lounge and Roof Garden, Chronic Fonk Records and the celebrated South London Soul Train, which he founded in 2011.

Through CLF, he has presented thousands of events spanning music, theatre, film, visual art, spoken word and community education. The venues he has developed have provided platforms for emerging artists as well as internationally recognised performers and cultural organisations.

Mickey’s work is distinguished by his commitment to independent creativity, cultural diversity, community participation and the imaginative regeneration of urban spaces. He is the founder and creative force behind the CLF venues proposed as London partners for the African Heritage Festival and its associated cultural programmes.
